Tree & Brush Removal

If you have a tree in the Town’s right of way (typically 25-30 feet from the center of the road) that is dead, dying or obstructing the view, please call the Highway Department (315) 687-6031 to determine the appropriate action.

Brush pickup will be done on Mondays, from May through October.

Please refer to our Calendar to see when your zone is scheduled for pickup.

Due to the size of our town, we will only cover each zone once a month. If there is a major wind storm causing tree damage, we may add an additional pickup day.

Zone 1: Includes all roads north of Route 31

Zone 2: Includes Fyler/New Boston Roads, Route 31, and all roads in between

Zone 3: Includes all roads south of Fyler Road

You can also bring your brush to the County Transfer Station on Bolivar Road.

Acceptable Brush for Pickup (cut in lengths up to 8 feet and piled neatly parallel to the road)

    • Branches from tree trimming
    • Brush from yard cleanup (plant and bush prunings)

NOT Acceptable for Pickup

    • Whole tree take-downs by contractors or homeowners
    • Leaves
    • Lawn edgings or other yard waste
    • Christmas trees

If you would like to schedule a truck to be left on your property for self-loading, please fill out a Work Request Form or call our office (315) 687-6031.

Drainage & Culverts

It is the Town’s responsibility to maintain ditches, culvert pipes and catch basins on Town roads only.

If you live on a town-maintained road, please call our office or fill out a Work Request Form. We will come out to assess your request.

If this is an emergency, call 911 or call the Highway Superintendent at (315) 447-1072

Driveway Pipes

The property owner is responsible for purchasing culvert pipe for new driveways, and the Town will do the installation. Please fill out a Work Request Form, and we will come out to determine what size pipe is needed and if the driveway meets the required sight distance.

Roadside Mowing & Street Sweeping

Roadside mowing begins in Spring when the grass begins to grow and continues through Fall.

Please be courteous and patient as it takes 2 to 3 weeks to complete mowing.

Street sweeping will begin at the end of the plow season and is typically only done once a year. If you have a concern regarding road debris, please call or email our office.
